My first hair highlights experience

Ever wanted something for so so long but never had the confidence to get it done? Yeah! We all have been through that. Right? One such thing with me was hair highlights. Why so much courage was required you ask me? I had my own concerns or rather I’d say my parent’s concerns 😛 😛

Well! You must have seen it on insta or fb that I have jet black hair.(Lucky me 😛 ) I thought there is no such color which could merge well with my natural hair color and give a subtle effect overall. Anything too gaudy w.r.t hair would just make me go hide in the burrow. I do love it on others by all means, I really do, but just the thought of that bright golden color on me makes me nervous.

Another reason was that everyone around me always told me that if I start coloring my hair, they WILL. GO. GRAY. to which I somehow related. I saw people around me using hair color globally and it actually worsen the condition. Now may be they never put in all that extra effort to take care of them or it was just hereditary. I don’t know. But their hair did turn GRAY.

Increased hair fall was another one of my concerns. And also that my hair would become extremely rough and dry.

So yeah! A lot was going on in my head since a very long time. I asked a lot of  beauty salons about all my concerns but was never satisfied with their answers. However, the urge to get them colored never died. “In baalon ka kuch kare 😛 “

In short, it was a very BIG DEAL for me!!!

I recently stumbled upon this beauty salon opened in my vicinity – “Loreal Makeover Salon”. Apprehensive but curious, I walked inside and what happened next changed my hair virginity forever 😳 😳 .(not complaining though 😀 )

This girl (Manisha) from their staff, had her way with the words and after talking to her I was totally convinced that nothing bad would happen to my hair. Yet I controlled myself and rushed out taking along their card. They have recently opened up and I will post their card picture in the end.

I took yet another week to decide whether or not I want it done. The next weekend came and there I was, standing in front of them to get my hair colored with yet another 100+ questions to bug them *yikes. However, they were really polite and replied to all my questions with patience. A big thanks for that 😀 🙂

My Experience at Loreal Makeover Salon:

I did not know much about the coloring process and which one would look good on me but one thing that I had in mind was that I wanted 2 colors as my highlights. Reason – I assumed that would make it merge with my natural hair more 😛 and still be visible as highlights. I know I wanted both ends but that’s what kept me waiting all this time 😀 Although Manisha had her doubts that the difference between them would not be that evident but I was adamant on getting 2 shades.

Color used: Majirel by Loreal

Shade:

8.3 – Light Golden Blonde

7.4 – Copper Blonde

Manisha did a patch test first for both of the colors at the back of my head. She blow dried them to speed up the process. As expected 8.3 showed up instantly but 7.4 took some time. Yet, I think I liked 7.4 more 😀 😛 7.4 did show up so we decided to skip bleaching and straight away apply both the colors. Yes, sometimes you need to bleach out your original color for the new one to show. Around 20 foils were applied by Manisha and Paras. We kept it for 35 minutes and meanwhile I got my pedicure done (greedy for more 😛 )

It was time to take the foils off and I was super scared to do that. (Can I go home with the foils on, please) She started to take off the 8.3 ones first. And to be honest I was like what the hell is that. Super golden 😐 😦 something that I was scared of. Manisha was really happy with the color pay off. She then used drier on the 7.4 foils and started taking them off. My mood was uplifted a bit because it did tone down the golden strands 😀

We then moved to the hair wash station. She shampooed my hair and suggested hair spa to get rid of any dryness.

Products used:

Vitamino Color A-OX – Professional salon version of shampoo

Powerdose Color A-OX – She sprayed it on my hair. It locks the color, increases colors lasting power and reduces dryness.

Absolute mask It reduces dryness.

Absolute serum – It de-tangles and gives shine.

I also bought their color protecting shampoo and mask.(I hope it works 😛 ) Manisha said the color would stay for at least 6 months. We will see to that 😀

Price:

Highlights – Rs. 3500

Hair Spa – Rs. 700

Shampoo & mask – Rs. 1250

We again moved to the other section in front of the mirrors and I was like where has all the color gone? Point to remember is that you may see less of that color in wet hair. So worry not. Anyway, I just stopped seeing myself in the mirror and decided to see the final result in the end (could not take all those minor shocks anymore)

She then blow dried my hair and set them. I finally took a look at the mirror. And…

Oh. My. Gosh. Did I love them or did I love them?

I was so right to get highlights of 2 colors. This was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted them to look colored and different but at the same time I wanted a subtle less gaudy look. Also, spa made my hair go super smooth. I couldn’t help but touch them again and again. And the fragrance was just as amazing.

Do you like the final result? Do share your views in the comments section below 🙂 😀

PS: Hair cut is pending 😛 Will get that soon. And the highlights in the back are more visible when I make a pony so will post that pic soon :*
