Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Review – I’m Bubbly 037

Talk about second chances! If you have been reading my posts you’d know that I give any product fair amount of chances to work for me. But this one just refuses to cooperate. Like seriously? What is the deal with you little guy? The name itself is so confusing, it says Lustrous and then also Matte.

I ordered it with so many expectations, I loved it when it arrived, I so loved the color. And this is how it turned out. Too disappointed 😦 (more than a sad face).

Well! Hi everyone!

Enough of my ranting. You must have guessed by now how bad my experience is with Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick. I’ll just proceed with the review.

How I apply – Well for this one I actually did everything I could. After exfoliating my lips –

  1. Applied it without lip balm – did NOT work.
  2. Applied it with lip balm – did NOT work.
  3. Applied it with lip balm and concealer – did NOT work.
  4. Applied it with lip balm, took off the extra balm with tissue and then went ahead with VERY small strokes in downward direction for upper lip and upward direction for lower lip – FINALLY worked *Phew.

Shade – Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick – I’m Bubbly 037

Color & pigmentation – Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick I’m Bubbly is such a beautiful girly bright pink shade. However the pigmentation is not that much and the coverage is quite poor. I have quite pigmented lips and it did not cover them even after multiple swipes (strokes in my case).

Stay – 3.5-4.5 hours

Texture – Although Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick says it is matte but I did find some sheen in it. It did not dry my lips, may be because of the lip balm. It is creamy and settles into fine lines which gives a very unwearable, unflattering look. And trust me you can’t wear it like that. And if you were brave enough to do it then you would surely get comments like – “Eww, what’s that on your lips”, “Did you not check the mirror before stepping out”. 

Fragrance – None.

Transfer – It does transfer.

Packaging & Quantity – It comes in a round black packaging with golden belt on which it’s written REVLON in black. You can see the color from the top which is transparent plastic. Also the inner body is golden. And at the bottom you can find the shade name. It is travel friendly. You can hear the click sound on closing. You get 4.2g of product.

So, my outer lips seemed visibly purplish due to its poor coverage. I would definitely not recommend it to people with pigmented lips like mine. It finally gave me a strong lip balm look which I could have easily obtained with a LIP BALM (which is mind you, a lot CHEAPER and easier to apply). I will somehow work around this product but won’t buy another from this range.

  1. Ohh…do you still have that broken piece with you?? If you melt it up in a spoon over candle flame and transfer it to an empty lip/eye shadow pallet and voila! You have you lip shade ready to be applied by a lip brush!
    Try it, it works!

  3. Thank God, I am not going to buy it. I was thinking to buy this one as the color was pretty nice and it was mentioned its lustrous and matte. I thought they would have made some weird permutations and combinations to make it work before launching it to women but alas according to your reviews it seems the QA folks were playing around and didn’t do their bit before the production launch. 😛

  4. I have used some of the Revlon Super Lustrous Mattes and one of them that I can think of right now is Spiced Up..Very pretty Maroon Red that is smooth and has great pigmentation too.. I think I may write a review on it..Not 100% sure..Will see😊

  8. I too have used coffee shade from the same range and it looks so cool..May be due to light shade it dint go well..The colour i tried was so smooth on application with good coverage.
